College Hill has traditionally had an exceptionally high level of civic organization and participation by residents and business owners. In addition to CHCURC, strong civic organizations dedicated to improving College Hill include:
College Hill Forum.
The Forum is College Hill’s Community Council, and represents all the residents of College Hill in issues and dealings with the City of Cincinnati and City Council. Members of the Forum communicate regularly with the Mayor and members of City Council to inform them of our most important issues, needs and concerns. By working with other College Hill organizations, the Forum has been successful in securing Council support and City funding for numerous College Hill projects.
Forum meetings are well-attended, and are held the 4th Tuesday of each month. See: www.collegehillohio.org.
College Hill Business Association (CHBA).
CHBA was formed over 50 years ago to provide businesses on “The Avenue” (Hamilton Avenue) a way of meeting each other and working together to make the business district a viable and profitable part of the College Hill community. The College Hill Business Association is a partnership of businesses that promote and assist economic growth throughout College Hill. See: www.collegehillbusiness.com.
College Hill Summit
The Summit is an informal, once a month round table meeting of College Hill organizations. The meeting agenda focuses on communication in an environment that is inclusive of all elements in the community. They strive to be a
“diverse gathering of community organizations dedicated to make College Hill a better place to live and to work. They do this by working together to share information, to collaborate on community issues and problems, coordinate resolution of these issues, and act as a cohesive, unified group with those outside of College Hill.”
College Hill Gardeners.
The Gardeners are a dedicated group of volunteers who work to beautify College Hill through decorative planting and landscaping. They maintain a number of public green-spaces in College Hill, and sponsor “Garden Tours” of College Hill residences with exceptional landscaping. In October, they coordinate the “Pumpkin Patch” Festival at College Hill Town Hall, a family-oriented day of crafts, music, food and fun. Their greenhouse supports a spring plant sale that has become a favorite event among College Hill residents. View their Facebook page.
College Hill Gardeners meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 7:30 pm in the Campus Center of Llanfair Retirement Community.
College Hill Historical Society.
The Society is a group of volunteers who believe that by knowing and learning the history of College Hill, we can appreciate the present and develop a brighter future. The Society’s purpose is to educate and collect, preserve and safeguard historical materials, sites and structures. They sponsor many tours and events of historical significance, including the dedication of an Ohio Historical Marker at Crawford Commons, a public green-space by the Library. View their Facebook page.
