As the weather begins to warm up, it’s once again time to shop “The Avenue”. Our Business District is filled with many amazing and diverse businesses that will constantly surprise you!

This year, College Hill is extremely proud to announce that three of our businesses took top spots in four different categories. None of these successes would be possible if it weren’t for the support of our local businesses and the hard work that all of our community organizations and volunteers have put into our neighborhood. We can’t wait to celebrate our success and continue to grow!

It’s been a busy year for CHCURC filled with many successes. Thanks to the help of our volunteers, dedication, and community dedication we have been able to move forward on many crucial projects to help improve the College Hill Business District.

Thanks to you, we have made major progress on the following projects:

  • Facade Improvement
  • Community Involvement

College Hill Retail Marketing Strategy

urban fast forward pictureAre you looking to expand your business? Are you curious to see if College Hill is a strong fit for your business? Earlier this year, CHCURC partnered with Urban Fast Forward, Cincinnati’s leading urban development and retail district revitalization firm.

College Hill is already the fourth largest neighborhood in Cincinnati. With the addition of Marlowe Court and College Hill Station bringing over 200 apartments in the heart of the business district, we believe that now is the time to invest in College Hill.

After compiling information from local government resources, census data, canvassing the business district, and community forums, Urban Fast Forward created a strong blueprint for the future of the College Hill Business District. While our business district is already home to many successful businesses, this study reaffirms the strong desire and space available for new businesses.

Key Retail Market Study Takeaways:

  • College Hill has a population of over 14,000 individuals. This population is diverse in many ways including economic, race, and age.
  • The College Hill business district is over 6 blocks long with plenty of room available for new businesses.
  • Marlowe Court and College Hill Station will bring over 200 new apartments in the heart of the  northern and  middle  areas of the business district.
  • The most desired businesses include grocery stores, produce, ice cream/dessert, bakery, entertainment venues, and professional services.
  • Throughout the business district, there are many parking lots available for staff and customers. CHCURC is currently improving the western and eastern mid-businesses parking lots.

Marlowe Court Development Plans

What an exciting week it’s been in College Hill! As the Marlowe Court development moves forward, we want to make sure that the College Hill Community see’s the latest developments on this $11.1 Million Project. If you have any questions regarding the development, feel free to Contact Us!

Marlowe Court Facts

  • $11.16 Million Development funded by private/public relationships
    • 9% Funded by Low-Income Housing Tax Credits issued by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency
    • Huntington National Bank will provide a construction loan and is the Federal Home Loan Bank Member
    • Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati has provided an Affordable Housing Program Grant
    • City of Cincinnati has invested HOME Funds
    • CHCURC & Episcopal Retirement Services have invested their own equity into the project
  • 5,000 SQ Feet in First Floor Retail
  • 53 Affordable Senior Housing Apartments
    • 22 of the units are 1 bedroom with 668 Square Footage
    • 31 of the units are 2 bedrooms with 899 Square Footage
    • All units are LEED Silver or higher.
    • Community fitness center, picnic area, clinic space, and lounge area are provided for all who live in Marlowe Court
  • This development was made possible thanks to a great partnership between Episcopal Retirement Services and The Model Group.

The annual College Hill 5K is here again! This time it’s under a slightly different name. The Blues & Brews 5K is the natural growth to the previously named Rhythm Race.

This year, things will be pretty similar – but just a little bit bigger. Instead of holding our after party in the Parking Lot behind our businesses, we will be celebrating at the future site of College Hill Station! With the bigger space comes bigger celebrations. There will be blues music, bluegrass music, games for kids, food trucks, food served by our local restaurants, and delicious craft and domestic beer.

Join us on September 17th at 6:00pm. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering on your favorite runner, it’s going to be a great time!

Gershom Grove – CiTiRAMA Update

We’re one month out to the ribbon cutting of CiTiRAMA in College Hill! We can’t wait for out latest development, Gershom Grove to open up right here in College Hill. Between September 10th and 18th stop by the newest housing development in College Hill! Whether you’re looking to buy one of the 37 new lots or simply explore the new developments in College Hill, this page has all the information you need!

CiTiRAMA 2016 Fun Facts

  • Gershom Grove is named after the one of the first College Hill Residents and Property Owners, Gershom Gard.
  • This is the second CiTiRAMA to be held in College Hill, the first being in 2014, Witherby Meadows.
  • All homes in the development will be part of the “Special Assessment District”. This gives a 20 year tax abatement on all improvements to the houses. The Special Assessment is estimated to be 50% of the regular taxes on a $200,000 improvement (per home). Payments will be due 24 months after bonds are placed.

  • Monday – Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday – Sunday Noon – 9:00 p.m.
  • No admittance after 8:00 p.m.

Admission:

  • $10.00 at the gate or $8.00 at area Kroger stores.
  • AAA members can purchase discount tickets for $8.00 by showing their AA cards at the gate.
  • Discount tickets can be purchased online here.
  • Children 12 and under are free if accompanied by an adult.

Other important information:

  • Your ticket includes on site parking.
  • Concessions  will be available onsite.
  • Restrooms are available on site.
  • No strollers, wagons or child backpacks with metal frames are permitted in show homes.
  • No pets, with the exception of service animals, are permitted within the show site.
  • Please be aware that the homes being shown in the CiTiRAMA® home show are not handicap accessible.  The homes are privately owned, built for general marketing and resale purposes to the general public.  Therefore, they are not required to be, nor are they equipped for handicap accessibility, nor have they been constructed to meet other physical challenges. Only the handicap parking area, public restrooms, and concessions are handicap accessible. The Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati wants to encourage those who cannot attend CiTiRAMA® to visit the homes personally, because of physical challenges, to review them on our website.
