Hollywood Apartment Renovations

In October 2021, we acquired The Hollywood Apartments (5818 Hamilton Ave), 34 units of naturally occurring affordable housing.

Upon acquisition, our team led a thorough unit-by-unit inspection process and identified more than 400 deferred maintenance items, from falling ceilings, and collapsing walls, to faucets running nonstop.

Our team raised over $600,000 and invested back into the Hollywood apartments, and improved the quality of life without raising rent for any existing residents.

Within a year, we completely renovated the courtyard and upgraded units with new paint, new appliances, new AC units, and new flooring. We repainted the common areas and added new flooring; we power-washed the building and did tuck-pointing.

This major update created a great addition to the College Hill neighborhood, and couldn’t have been possible without all of the generous support we received. We have been able to do what so many other community groups dream of doing – turning a neglected property run by an out-of-state landlord into truly equitable affordable housing for residents who already call College Hill home. We couldn’t have done it without all of the generous support and donations to CHCURC from you!
