Now in its 10th year, CHCURC’s Derby Day fundraiser is our biggest event of the year. On the first Saturday in May, join us at Historic Laurel Court for an evening of excitement & fun! College Hill’s Derby Day party begins with a complimentary cocktail hour featuring mint juleps (along with beer & wine) in the beautiful and ornate gardens of Laurel Court, where guests can enjoy the spring weather and live music. Afterwards, step inside a piece of Cincinnati history  to enjoy Derby-themed catering, a full bar, silent & live auctions, and raffles. Throughout the evening, participate in our hat contest, place bets with Derby Bucks, visit our photo booth and socialize! Watch the Kentucky Derby on a large projector screen in the atrium of Laurel Court, or on big-screen televisions in several adjoining rooms – you won’t miss a beat!

If you are interested in volunteering, let us know by emailing Brianne Brenneman ( There are a variety of shifts and times you can sign up for.

All proceeds of the event go directly to CHCURC, whose mission is to revitalize the Hamilton Avenue business district to strengthen the surrounding College Hill Community. Established in 1975, CHCURC has been working tirelessly to make improvements to our business district by stabilizing and renovating historic structures, infilling vacant land with amenities and new housing, attracting new business, and engaging residents and other stakeholders with placemaking events & community input sessions – all with the goal of improving quality of life for all residents.
